Potions are a key consumable that you should always be using in ESO combat. This article will go over the types of potions that exist and their utility in Group PVE Content.

Types of Potions

  • Tri-Restoration Potions - The most common type of potion to use. If you don't need a specific buff provided by other potions, the resource return from tri-pots is extremely valuable.
  • Weapon/Spell Damage Potions - Somewhat common potion for DPS. If you don't have a source of Major Sorcery/Brutality or Major Savagery/Prophecy then this potion is necessary for DPS builds. Sometimes you don't need the off-resource sustain from a tri-pot and it's too much of an opportunity cost to get one of the previously mentioned buffs so this potion works well.
  • Heroism Potions - Very common in very optimized groups. This potion trades the health gain from tri-pots for the Minor Heroism buff, increasing your ultimate generation. The downside to this potion is the cost, it's easily 5x the price of tri-pots so most people won't use them unless the group is running smooth and want the potential DPS increase from it.
  • Immovable Potions - Niche potion that gives you crowd control immunity on demand. Can be very useful for certain mechs, worth having some on your quickslot wheel and swapping to it when usable.
  • Resistance Potions - Not used in PVE. The armor buff isn't necessary as you should be able to hit your resistance cap with the rest of your build and group buffs.
